These sweet buns are based on "Dreikönigskuchen" (Three Kings Cake), which is eaten for Epiphany on 6th of January. To celebrate the three kings finally reaching Bethlehem, Swiss bakeries hide a small plastic king figurine in each bread, and whoever finds it is king for the day.
Our buns of course don't have a king inside, but are stuffed with lots of juicy currants and topped with almonds and pearl sugar.
Ingredients: organic WHEAT flour, BUTTER, WHOLE MILK, YEAST, water, EGG, currants, ALMONDS, sugar
