We, Annina and Dave, are the bakers behind Backhaus Swiss Bakery. Originally from the Bernese countryside in Switzerland (Annina) and Northumberland (Dave), baking runs deep in both families. Annina's Granddad Ernst was a master baker and Confiseur; here he is, delivering bread whilst an apprentice.

Dave's Grandma Jenny had a bakery in Cumbria before moving to Graves Bakery in Chester-le-Street in the 1950s, where Dave's Granddad Stan was the bakery engineer. After living together in Switzerland, we moved to Yorkshire in 2016 but missed the bakeries so much we started our own!

We make small-batch, artisan loaves, buns, sweets and biscuits; we hope you enjoy our Swiss products as much as we do.

Our Ethos: We use organic ingredients, 100% renewable electricity, with any unsold products donated to local foodbanks. In addition, we will give 5% of all profits to environmental charities.
